Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan has been urged by his father to quit alcohol.The advice comes amid reports in the English press that MacGowan, 50 last year, has contracted hepatitis.“Shane must heed the doctor’s advice,” pleaded father Maurice, aged 78, after his son broke doctors’ six week alcohol ban after just three.“He’s had scares before but hepatitis is serious. He has had a good run on the drink but he must remember he is mortal.”The Pogues are due to appear at the annual V Festival later this month.
