Michael Jackson died last night after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest.
Medics found the singer unconscious at his home in the Bel Air area of Los Angeles.
He was taken to UCLA Medical Centre but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at 2.26pm Pacific Time (10.26pm BST).
The star was 50.
Jackson’s death has rocked the music world over which, for a while, he undoubtedly ruled, enjoying unprecedented and still unmatched success with “Thriller”, which remains the biggest selling album of all time.
The singer had planned to return this summer, but the 50 ‘farewell concerts’ arranged to take place at London’s O2 Arena, starting in July, have now been cancelled.
