Snoop Dogg has been granted a visa to enter Australia, it has been confirmed.
The controversial hip hop icon was barred from touring the country in 2007, following a series of high-profile legal problems.
However, a new government has cleared the way for the rapper to visit for 17-days from October 21.
"He has now been assessed under the character test as having passed, so he will be given a visa", an immigration official told Reuters.
The decision has angered local crime watchdogs, including the Australian Family Association.
Spokeswoman Angela Conway told the Herald Sun newspaper: "Snoop Dogg trades in toxic messages of menace, violence, misogyny and lawlessness".
