Oasis open world tour

Oasis played the first date of their 2008 world tour in America last night.

The Gallagher brothers aired material from imminent new album "Dig Out Your Soul" at the concert in Seattle.

The show at the city's WaMu Theater saw Noel Gallagher introduce the rest of the band to fans, including new drummer Chris Sharrock.

His appointment follows the recent departure of Zak Starkey, which prompted the Oasis leader to suggest they were "trying to break Spinal Tap's record" for number of sticksmen.

The set featured "The Shock Of The Lightning", "Ain't Got Nothin'", "To Be Where There's Life" and "Falling Down" alongside a host of classics.

As reported yesterday, Oasis make their live return in the UK at the Eden Project, Cornwall, on September 27.
